I have been reminiscing recently about the beginning. The beginning of the Art & Travel Club for our BFG Family.
We have traveled the globe and embraced the places that make our Kansas City great. Before we started our Art & Travel clubs, I would be driving downtown and see billboards advertising an exhibit at the Nelson Art Gallery or perhaps the Union Station. I thought, “I should see that. I want to see that!” I had very good intentions but just never seemed to make the time to learn more about the place we call home. It occurred to me that if I planned it, maybe others would take the time to enjoy it too. And they have. Our year included a visit behind the scenes at the Sporting KC Venue, a tour of our Central Library which was outstanding. I had no idea this beautiful gem was standing tall in our city! Exhibits at the Nelson Atkins Museum are always worthy of our time and I know more today about the moody, Spanish painter Picasso and Napoleon Bonaparte’s lavish lifestyle of power and splendor. Union Station gave us the opportunity to engage the child in all of us with the LEGO “Art of the Brick” and “Dinosaurs Revealed.”
Photos from Scotland, Norway, and Iceland.
Our travels this year took us to 9 countries, which included a river cruise on the Danube, a soak in the Blue Lagoon of Iceland, and culinary tours in the cities of Budapest and Prague. We experienced the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, performed by British Armed Forces and international military bands on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, in the capital of Scotland. There is nothing that will fill your heart and teach you more than the discovery of the cultures, architecture, and landscapes of our world.
As we come full circle, our travels take us back to the part of the world that our club first visited…. The Mediterranean. This time, we will include historic Croatia, Montenegro, the blue coasts of southern Italy, Monaco, St. Tropez, and Spain. You are always welcome to join me if you are emboldened to discovery and adventures. To find out where our next adventure will be, make sure to watch your email for our Arts & Travel Club invitations or feel free to drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Because we spend time together, whether it is sharing our Kansas City or traveling the world, my heart is full. I know there is much to be grateful for.
Wishing for you an extra special holiday and indelible memories as we head into this New Year. I can’t wait to share it with you!
Don’t forget to like and follow us while you’re there, and if you see yourself in a photo go ahead and tag yourself!
